Stock condition surveys

A Stock Condition Survey is an inspection of the inside and outside of your home. The inspection helps us to assess the condition of your home and plan future investment works

What is a Stock Condition Survey?

A Stock Condition Survey is an inspection of key elements inside and outside of your home. The survey allows us to assess the age and condition of these elements and ensure your home is safe and comfortable. The survey helps us plan future improvement work to your home and ensures we are compliant with the Government’s ‘Decent Home Standard.’ The survey will also highlight any health and safety issues such as damp and mould and the safety of stairs and steps.

What happens during a Stock Condition Survey?

A suitable appointment will be made for a surveyor from our Stock Condition and Energy Surveying Team to attend your home. Gentoo colleagues will always show you an ID card before entering your home. Do not let anyone into your home if you are unsure in any way.

Our surveyors will check key building elements in and around your home, including:

  • Internal
kitchen elements, bathroom and heating systems, electrics and insulation, windows, front and rear doors
  • External
    roofing elements, walls and boundaries

Surveyors will need access to all rooms in your home, including the loft. This is a visual inspection so there is no need to move any furniture. Our surveyors will need to take photographs during the inspection but not of personal possessions.

Surveys take approximately 40 minutes to complete.

What happens after a Stock Condition Survey?

All data collected is reported back to the investment team who review the data to include in future investment programmes. It is important you allow us to complete Stock Condition Surveys to ensure your home is included in future improvement plans if necessary.

We complete Stock Condition Surveys every five years.
