Sheltered housing and extra care schemes
Sheltered housing and extra care schemes are secure, self-contained apartments designed for older people and people with care and support needs.
Who sheltered housing and extra care is for
Sheltered housing is available for anyone aged 60 and over.
Extra care is available for anyone who has an assessed care need and is aged 55 and over. Extra care schemes have onsite care 24 hours a day.
Applying for sheltered housing or extra care
We list all our available sheltered housing properties on our online housing register.
Letting extra care properties is a separate process that uses information we get when you apply to join our housing register. A panel decides who can rent a property. Find out more about applying to join our housing register.
