We have raised £10,928 for local children’s charity Love, Amelia in 2024.
Our colleagues chose Love, Amelia as their corporate charity to support in 2024 and throughout the year have been involved in a variety of fundraising and donating activities to support the children’s charity.
From Summer BBQs to sponsored runs, organisation wide raffles, tuck shops and their popular monthly payroll deduction scheme, colleagues have gone the extra mile over the last 12 months to show their support. Colleagues also made time to volunteer for the charity at their warehouse and help them pack donations for those in need.
Alongside these activities, Love, Amelia ran various campaigns which Gentoo colleagues took part in to increase donations. This included the back-to-school campaign where colleagues at Gentoo and their partners Lyreco donated over 2,000 back to school kits, the Christmas toy appeal where Gentoo and their partners, Jewson donated over 250 Christmas presents and The Mother’s Day collection where colleagues donated gifts to the charity.
Louise Bassett, Chief Executive Officer at Gentoo said: “Child poverty is a significant issue in our region and Love, Amelia are doing amazing work to support families experiencing hardship.
It’s been a pleasure to get to know Love, Amelia over the past year, learn more about their vital work in Sunderland and build a strong relationship so we can continue to work together to help our communities thrive.
“The generosity from our colleagues towards our chosen charities never fails to impress me and I’d like to thank everyone for their hard work to raise money for such an amazing charity.”
Steph Capewell, Chief Executive at Love, Amelia, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Gentoo for choosing Love, Amelia as their corporate charity in 2024 and for their outstanding support throughout the year. From their colleagues to their partners, they have fully embraced our charity, showing commitment through fundraising, volunteering, and supporting our projects. Their efforts have raised an amazing £10,928, which has made a very real and significant difference.
“Many of the families we support live in Gentoo properties, making this partnership especially meaningful as we work together to address the challenges in our community. This collaboration has created a positive impact, and we are truly thankful for everything Gentoo has done to help us support children and families experiencing hardship.”
Love Amelia is a Sunderland based charity who provide new and excellent quality preloved items and equipment to children from birth to 16 years old, who are experiencing poverty and hardship throughout the Tyne and Wear and County Durham.
The support from the organisation was also supported by their partners, Jewson and Lyreco who helped make some of the fundraising events possible.
Craig McCluskey, Contracts Manager at Gentoo, said: “We’d like to thank our partners at Jewson and Lyreco for their support this year raising money for Love, Amelia. It’s amazing to see what we can all achieve by working together.”
As Gentoo move into 2025, they are proud to announce that they are supporting Sunderland Mind as their chosen corporate charity this year.
Louise added: “I am delighted colleagues voted Sunderland Mind as our chosen charity for 2025. The charity makes a massive difference in the city, and we’re excited to support them again to achieve great things this year.”
