Gentoo customers are being invited to give their views on important new Consumer Standards and a Code of Practice being introduced by the Regulator of Social Housing.
The regulator is keen to receive feedback on the draft consumer standards from anyone with an interest in social housing. At Gentoo, we are encouraging our customers to get involved and to help shape the standards.
The new standards will set expectations that social landlords - including Gentoo - will have to meet. The regulator will measure landlord performance against these standards.
What do the standards mean? Our Q&A guide below explains more...
Who is the Regulator of Social Housing?
The Regulator of Social Housing is the Government body that oversees the work of social housing providers, including Gentoo. The regulator sets the standards that landlords must meet.
Why should I get involved?
Gentoo is encouraging customers to express their views on all matters relating to our services and housing in general. This national consultation exercise is a great way to have an impact on future regulatory standards.
There are lots of other ways you can get involved at Gentoo. Visit https://www.gentoogroup.com/get-involved/ for more information and to sign up for upcoming engagement opportunities.
What is the consultation about?
The consultation focuses on four Consumer Standards which are designed to protect customers and improve services:
- The Safety and Quality Standard
- Which focuses on ensuring landlords provide safe, good quality homes and effective services
- The Transparency, Influence and Accountability Standard
- Which covers landlords being open with their customers and treating them with fairness and respect
- The Neighbourhood and Community Standard
- Which looks at how landlords work with other organisations to create safe and well maintained neighbourhoods
- The Tenancy Standard
- Which relates to allocating homes fairly and setting requirements for managing and ending tenancies.
Along with the Consumer Standards there is also a proposed Code of Practice which you can comment on.
