Gentoo announced major £37.4 million Property Investment Plan

We have announced our multi-million-pound Property Investment Plan for 2021/22, with more than 10,000 of our properties set to benefit from this year’s programme.

Our comprehensive Investment Plan includes a number of major schemes including roof replacements and internal modifications, with work set to start on the schemes this April.

It will also see us move into the third year of our major window replacement scheme, with over 2,600 properties across Sunderland set to have window replacements this year as part of our commitment to replacing all single glazed windows by December 2023.

The work will take place across the city, including window replacements in Springwell, roof replacements in Columbia, Washington, external decoration works in Easington Lane and porch renewals in Town End Farm.

The list of investment programmes for its properties this year includes:

  • Window replacements
  • Roof replacements
  • Kitchen and Bathroom replacements
  • Communal area decoration
  • External decoration
  • Porch, canopy and boundary renewals
  • Garage improvements

Nigel Wilson, Chief Executive Officer at Gentoo Group, said: “At Gentoo we believe everyone deserves to live in a good quality, secure home and I’m delighted to announce our major investment plan for this year. This demonstrates our significant ongoing commitment to enhancing our existing properties.

“We know that it’s extremely important to our tenants that we’re actively investing in their homes and I’m pleased that over a third of our properties across all areas of the city will receive improvements during 2021/22.

“The current climate is still challenging, and I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to continuing to follow COVID-19 Safe Systems of Work at all times to help keep our tenants, contractors and colleagues safe.”

This year’s investment programme is part of our 2019-2024 Business Plan which will see more than £300 million invested into our existing homes and neighbourhoods over the five-year period.

If you are a tenant and your home is part of the schemes, you will be contacted directly by our teams or our contracting partners.
