We are here to help you

We have launched our new campaign to remind customers that we are here to help and deserve respect when we are carrying out our jobs.

Over the last year, 72 unacceptable behaviour incidents have been reported by our colleagues and contractors to our Health and Safety team. These are incidents that have happened during interactions with customers, where our colleagues or contractors  felt unsafe or  uncomfortable due to a customer’s behaviour.

Examples of what we define as unacceptable behaviour by a customer:

  • aggression or verbal abuse
  • physical assault
  • deliberate property damage
  • threats or harassment

We believe that every Gentoo customer has the right to be listened to, respected and understood. However, when behaviour becomes unacceptable our colleagues have the right to report this and take action.

The campaign shows our colleagues are only human and they come to work every day to help our customers and communities in Sunderland. The colleagues we have used are for illustration purposes only.

We will be sharing it on social media, on posters across our buildings and customers will be reminded when they are contacted.

If you have any concerns, please get in touch.
