We're making it easier for tenants to have external repairs completed

Earlier this year, we attempted to contact every tenant to see if they would be happy for us to complete external repairs to their property while they weren’t home.

Out all of those contacted, 96% of tenants were happy with the proposal.

We’re pleased to announce that from Tuesday 1 August, tenants will have the option to have external repairs completed on their property while they aren’t home. Instead of receiving an appointment when ringing up to report the repair, they instead will be given a timescale of when the repair will be completed.

We know this option isn’t suitable for everyone, that’s why tenants will still be able to request an appointment for the work to be completed.

There are many benefits to this way of working for both the Group and our tenants which include, tenants not being restricted and having to take time off work for an appointment. It also allows the Group to offer a more efficient repairs service to tenants as jobs can be completed as and when materials become available.

Typical repairs that can be completed while tenants aren’t at home include:

  • fencing
  • roofing
  • brickwork
  • guttering

Once the work has been completed by a Gentoo colleague or approved contractor will post a card through the door to advise that the work has been completed or further work is needed.
