Assistant Contracts Manager

We are currently recruiting an Assistant Contracts Manager (M&E) to join the Mechanical and Electrical team. In this role, you will assist the Repairs & Maintenance Contracts Managers (Mechanical & Electrical) to provide, plan and coordinate external suppliers to manage Gentoo’s statutory, regulatory and compliance responsibilities. You will also support the Contracts Managers to ensure all relevant servicing, repairs, testing and remedial work is tracked and completed and certification validated and updated. Supporting and undertaking (in collaboration) quality assurance/quality control checks to a defined percentage of suppliers' work to provide robust site management together with technical advice is a key element of this role. You will support the performance of Gentoo’s suppliers in delivering specialist works in a safe and compliant manner, delivering value for money, health and safety excellence while ensuring programmes are delivered to the required time, cost and quality standards. Collaborate with colleagues in Gentoo to deliver the organisations requirements in relation to Mechanical & Electrical services ensuring that all undertakings in relation to servicing, testing and inspection are delivered effectively. Where required, review contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements, including managing relevant Permits to Work to ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements. Act as Duty Manager as part of the Group’s emergency out of hours service (EOHS). Ensure all services provided are delivered in line with the Group’s cultural values.

We are currently recruiting an Assistant Repairs and Maintenance Manager (Electrical Services) to join the Electrical team. The role will require you to assist the R&M Manager (Electrical Services) to provide, plan and co-ordinate in-house staff and external contractors for the effective and comprehensive management of Gentoo’s statutory, Regulatory and Compliance responsibilities in relation to designated areas of the testing and maintenance of a range of electrical services’ installations and equipment including cyclical, responsive and planned programmes to domestic and non-domestic properties. Support the R&M Manager (Electrical Services) to ensure that all relevant servicing, repairs, testing and inspection is carried out, that all follow on/remedial work is tracked, completed and recorded with the appropriate certification validated and updated and transmitted to the data team in a timely manner so that all information is current and accurate. Supporting and undertaking (with others) quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) checks to a defined percentage of ongoing/completed works of contractors’/in-house staff for robust management together with technical advice in line with best practice. Support the performance of Gentoo's Contractors and in-house staff delivering works by the effective management of Assistant Managers, trades staff and colleagues and sub-contractors to deliver value for money, health and safety excellence whilst ensuring programmes are delivered to the required time, cost and quality standards. Supporting in ensuring that all relevant service, testing and inspection processes are carried out correctly, remedial/follow on works are undertaken on a risk basis, that the service, testing and inspection process is fit for purpose, and the certification is appropriately recorded, and that data is validated and current 4. Carry out quality assessments and quality control inspections of electrical servicing, testing and installation work to ensure that the work undertaken is to the correct standard and that Gentoo Property Services and external contractors are competent to carrying out of their work 5. Ensure documentation and certification meets the requirements of registration bodies e.g. N.I.C.E.I.C. & NAPIT etc. 6. Act as a Qualified Supervisor in line with certification body requirements

The Asset Management delivery team are based at our Sunderland head office at Doxford Park. Led by the Contracts Manager the team includes a Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Asset Delivery Co-ordinator, Project Managers, Project Surveyors and Client customer liaison officers. This role will report to our Contracts Manager, John, who has worked for Gentoo for over 20 years and has significant experience in the overall management and delivery of the Gentoo Planned Investment programme. In the role of Project Manager, you will play a leading role and be responsible for the operational and financial management, coordination and reporting of up to a third of the Group’s planned investment schemes annually. Ensuring the Group delivers the investment plan (circa £ 42m pa) and achieves value for money while meeting KPIs. • Management responsibility for the projects allocated to you across all disciplines of project management. With responsibility for their success from implementation to completion, incorporating all aspects of programming, quality and specification compliance, health and safety and customer satisfaction. • Lead a small team which consists of a Project Surveyor and Client Customer Liaison Officer. • Interact, input, and contribute during the planning stages of each scheme to ensure a smooth delivery once the schemes become “live” and are managed directly by you and your team, via our appointed Principal Contractors. • Liaise with a wide range of Gentoo teams including Planning and Building Surveying, Customer Voice, Health and Safety, Communications, Procurement, Leasehold, Risk and Insurance and Housing colleagues to assist you in this role. In this key role, you will be responsible for delivering a core and outreach support service that enables 16-25-year olds to obtain, maintain and sustain their tenancy and prepare them to move on to independent living. Within this key role, you will be based in our supported living scheme, Holmewood. You will effectively manage an agreed caseload that supports residents on a one to one basis to understand their rights and responsibilities, including relevant policies, procedures and best practice. You will support residents with issues such as substance misuse, domestic abuse and mental health services, you will assist them in accessing available specialist support. Residents’ progress will regularly be reviewed through the implementation and follow up of support plans. To ensure continuous improvement of service, you will assist the Supported Manager in the reviewing of processes and procedures, maintaining records and completing necessary documentation in accordance with service delivery standards. You will provide effective handovers to your colleagues to ensure the high level of support to the young people is maintained. You will also be required to liaise with key stakeholders, including internal teams and external partner agencies, to develop and maintain good working relationships and access for young people.
